Route 3.

Driving trip along the Dordogne, via Beynac, Domme and le château des Milandes.

This tourist tour makes you pass by a visit to the castle of Beynac, where Richard Lion Heart during the crusades was, then by various centers of interest.
The splendid town of Domme, and to finish the impressive field and castle where Josephine Baker lived the last years of his life with all his adoptive children. It became an enthralling museum where there is also a show of raptors. To advise, with the adults as with the children!

While leaving the camp-site you drive towards the center.
You pass across the bridge and you turn right towards Campagne.
You continue on the “green road” (D35) towards St Cyprien. This place has a pretty commercial street. Via D703 you arrive at Beynac.
You have a large carpark on your right. You may have here 2 interesting activities.

First of all, you can after climbing hard a lot of steps, visit le château de Beynac (you can also drive up the street just in front of the parking lot).
Believing on the history of it, Richard Lion Heart would have lived there during the crusades. A true “castle of battle” with ramparts, gates and loopholes to throw “pitch and ebullient oil” on the attackers.

Back in the small village it is amusing to ferret: small pleasant stores and small streets.
Il is possible to go in boat, motorized or not, on the Dordogne, within a splendid framework.
From the carpark you continue towards La Roque Gageac (D703). Almost arrived on the crossroads in form of “T” (attention!) you leave the Sarlat direction, and on the right direction Domme (D46).

Domme is said one of the most beautiful places of the surroundings.
In any case the view to the Dordogne is imposing. In Domme, you can also visit a cave.
The center looks pleasant and the little cafes and restaurants around give us desire.

From Domme you go to west (D50) by St Gybranet,
you follow D57 towards Castelnaud and D53 towards Milandes.
Here is the field of Josephine Baker. You can park under the fruit trees on the left side of the road. It is possible to visit the “pied-à-terre”, as well as the splendid garden. All the parts are in original state.

Continue on D53 towards the South (green road).
at crossroads in form of “T” you turn right (D50) and you go by Berbiguières to Siorac-en-Perigord.
Here on the edge of the Dordogne you can have fun to bath or make sunbath.
Via Coux-and-Bigaroque you turn over on D703 to the camp-site le rocher de la Granelle in Le Bugue.
Do you know it ?
